Venezia: motto bellissimo!

Ciao,

There is absolutely nothing I wouldn't do to return to Venice. Even just for a day. Thus far it is my favourite Italian city that I've been to. It could be because it's on the water and I tend to prefer places on or close to water. BUT...it also could be because the city is so majestic and impossibly built and beautiful, and classy, and awesome in every way. There is a huge controversy about whether it should be saved and reconstructed (modernized) or if it should be left intact, which would inevitably allow the city to keep crumbling. The city was built on an actual swamp so the foundation of the entire city is sand. It's impressive that it has lasted this long. I'm not sure which side I'd be on, but I'm guessing the one to preserve it. As long as it didn't completely ruin the vibe of the city.

Also!!! Venice has lots of graffiti. I didn't realize how much I missed that urban feel until I saw it. Most of Italy is well taken care of, and beautiful and so historical that no one defaces it. Except in Venice.

I totally drove a gondola! There's only one woman who's certified in the world to drive one. Now, obviously, there are two;). Amazing experience! I'd like to thank the charming Antonio for granting me the opportunity.

A prison.

Apparently the thing to do is feed the millions of pigeons in Venice? Well, I did it...mostly against my will.

When the tides comes in the city floods. Everything is built around this happening, churches, everything. It happens quickly, and is amazing to experience.

Oldest cafe (1720). Worth 40 euro to sit and have a cappucino with an orchestre playing beside me in the main square of Venice.

Venetians are obsessed with dressing up.

I hope everyone gets a chance to go to Venice one day.
xo

  1. Agreed! A definite spot to visit and take in the beauty. Water taxis, Murano glass blowers, night life, adventurous walks down tunnels... oh, c'est la vie :)
